Smith Engineering also offer a whisky cask racking inspection service and are at present an approved contractor for some of the leading whisky companies in Scotland where we are at present repairing and inspecting their racking, and also upgrading the access and egress safety aspect of their racking.

We were previously until their closure carrying out cask racking inspection and engineering tasks for J&B (Scotland) at their plant in Dumbarton.

All our inspections are carried out by fully trained operatives, who have approximately twenty years experience in the inspection and repair of whisky cask racking.

Our inspection service includes a risk assessment and method statement issued prior to any work commencing, and a detailed report delivered upon completion along with a summary of all damage found.

These reports are compiled and stored in a database dedicated to each client, where any damage found or repairs carried out on their racks is accurately detailed and precisely located, this information is available in either hard copy or disk format.

The normal inspection sequence for each warehouse is usually a full documented inspection carried out at a minimum of every two years with a recorded visual inspection carried out in the intervening year.
